The 1080p medium results, like the 4K ultra results on the next page, are more academic than meaningful. Some people might prefer the higher framerates over image fidelity, but in pursuit of those framerates, CPU bottlenecks become much more of a factor. We're only providing limited commentary here.
The overall margin between the 7800 XT and 4060 Ti shrinks to 12% at 1080p medium, still in favor of AMD. That's half the size of the difference at 1440p ultra. Individual games can still end up GPU limited, and in some cases, the deltas at 1080p medium are actually larger than at 1080p ultra due to the way other factors weigh in on performance.
Nearly every game in our test suite now easily clears 60 fps, of course. The only exception is Cyberpunk 2077, which still averages just 48 fps on the 7800 XT. That's largely because we use the medium preset and then turn on all of the ray tracing effects (with medium RT lighting), though, so if you want to get well above 60 fps in Cyberpunk, all you need to do is turn off RT completely.
Do people purchase a $500 graphics card for 1080p medium settings? Probably not. So you can peruse the charts below, separated into rasterization and DXR suites, but we won't analyze them any further. The same general trends as at 1080p and 1440p ultra are still present, just with less of a gap between the cards.
